Who We Are

The Golden Age Centers of Greater Cleveland, Inc. is a private, not for profit, social service agency which provides individual and group services for those over sixty in the Greater Cleveland area. Established in 1954 in response to a study by the Committee on Older Persons of the Federation for Community Planning, the Golden Age Centers has evolved into a major force within the community in addressing the critical problems of the aging population.

The first Golden Age Centers was created in Cleveland, Ohio 1954. Founding organizations included the Council of Older Persons of the Federation for Community Planning, the Benjamin Rose Institute and the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority. The first center was established at the corner of Cedar and East 30th in the City of Cleveland. Today, the Golden Age Centers of Greater Cleveland, Inc. operates community senior centers, supportive housing centers in low-income housing, and a home delivered meal program serving more than 5000 older persons in Greater Cleveland.
